Grand Prix - AIS (Automatic Information System)


Seatrack’s AIS function shows the course, speed and identity of all vessels over 300 tons within VHF range. The display symbols indicate the speed and course of vessels as well as the minute-to-minute collision threat level - a critically important safety feature.

The AIS potential collision threat levels are displayed on the chart showing the identified vessels' course, speed and position.

 

 
Danger
This symbol depicts a vessel posing a 'Danger' threat level, indicating that it is heading NE at 21 - 24 knots with the bearing changing at a rate of less than 4 degrees in 2 minutes.
 
 
Moderate
This symbol depicts a vessel posing a 'Moderate' threat level, indicating that it is heading NE at 13 - 16 knots with the bearing changing at a rate of between 4 and 8 degrees in 2 minutes.
 
 
Minimal
This symbol depicts a vessel posing a 'Minimal' threat level, indicating that it is heading NE at 16 - 19 knots with the bearing changing at a rate of more than 8 degrees in 2 minutes.
