White Cloud, a HOD 35 equipped with Seatrack Grand Prix, racing in the Irish Sea to become winner of the Three Peaks Race
Success on the Water
In 2011 owners of yachts equipped with Seatrack systems have again taken home more than their fair share of the silverware. Most notably, in Cowes Week they acheived no less than eight firsts and 16 places in IRC Classes 2, 3 and 4. Indeed, on the first day they made an absolutely clean sweep in IRC Class 4 - coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Besides being overall winner of IRC Class 2 in Cowes Week, Shmokin' Joe, a J111 equipped with Seatrack Grand Prix, won IRC Group 1 in the Round the Island Race, while Black Dog, a J97 also equipped with Seatrack Grand Prix, was overall winner of the 52nd Helford to L'Aber Wrac'h Race - see Testimonials at 'What the Owners Say'. Black Dog also notched up a long string of other successes this season, including three wins out of four starts in Cornwall Offshore Group races, being IRC winner of the HRSC and Savills Cup SW Regattas and, most recently, overall winner of IRC Class lll at the Dartmouth Regatta.
At the beginning of the 2011 racing season, yachts equipped with Seatrack scored two important wins in major events in the Caribbean. First, British Soldier, an A40 owned by the Army Sailing Association and skippered by Nick Bate, won IRC 2 in the RORC Caribbean 600 in February. And then in March Antelope, a Grand Soleil 43 owned and skippered by Willem Wester, won all six IRC 2 races at the International Rolex Regatta at St. Thomas having, incidentally, been overall winner of her class in Cowes Week in 2010.
Seatrack-equipped yachts have recorded an impressive run of successes over recent seasons. These include:
- Cowes Week, overall winners of Classes II and III and the Contessa 32s
- Round the Island Race, winners of IRC Classes 1A, 1B, 1C, 2A and 3A
- Morgan Cup, overall winner
- RORC Easter Challenge, winner of IRC Class II
- The North Sea Regatta, overall winner
- Three Peaks Race, overall winner
- East Coast IRC Championships, overall winner of Class I
- Dartmouth Regatta, overall winners of Classes I and 3
